I just bought the retail version of rFactor this afternoon. The first big surprise when I opened up the box - no manual! Then, the next big surprise: I discovered that although there's a formula 1 car on the cover box there really isn't a formula 1 season included in the game.
I'm not sure how I ended up at this website - but I sure am glad you that guys (whoever you are) are here.
I downloaded your incredible 2006 F1 series mod tonight and played it for about two hours nonstop - I suck. But ho-lee are those F1 cars ever a blast to drive. (The mod reminds me of the old Microprose F1 games by that Crammond guy). What's amazing here is that the cars are incredibly difficult to drive, and yet somehow the experience never gets frustrating. Somebody somewhere deserves a lot of credit for that - that's a very rare thing to find in a racing sim.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as the downloads are concerned, I'm a bit lost here.
This file right here (V1.3 FULL INSTALLER EXE). I downloaded that one and it had its own installer icon. That was an easy one. I just double-clicked and it installed the mod.
But this one here (FSONE MAP PACK V0.5 - must have this to see fixed AI and fixed bumps) I'm not sure what to do with? It's a zip file. But where am I supposed to copy the file folder to?
Same question about this one (V1.3/1.4 - V1.52 UPDATE INSTALLER EXE). I'm not sure where this is supposed to go?
This one I never even bothered to download (V1.1 Spotter Full). What the hell's that for?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyhow, after installing that first file (V1.3 FULL INSTALLER EXE), a new icon appeared on my desktop. When I attempted to launch the FSONE mod with the new icon the game refused to start. Eventually I gave up and launched rFactor using the original rFactor icon and much to my surprise the game loaded up the 2006 Formula 1 mod. What was that all about?
Also, it appears to me that not all of the 2006 F1 events have been included in the 2006 mod - is there any way to add additional tracks?
Sorry if any of these questions are obvious - but this is actually quite confusing. I'm kind of just stumbling around here. d**ned glad that I found this website, though. The mod that you guys made saved the day for me. Bloody fantastic is what it is.
