The reason I started this topic is because I want to discuss about the performance issue of the released and future released fsone tracks which I think is VERY important , propably the most important in a race.
Before I start i'd like to suggest using ONLY fsone packs because only there ull have fixed AI.
So , after racing a couple of laps with the mapack , I ended in this rating list according to the performance of each track ;
( Tested on Coreduo@3.2/8800gts/2g and settings at ultra quality dx9 , 1440x900 , 8xAnis. , 4xAntial. , full grid )
French Grand Prix : 10 / 10
Australian Grand Prix : 9/10
Canadian Grand Prix : 8/10
Malaysian Grand Prix : 7/10
Monaco Grand Prix : 5/10
United States Grand Prix : 5/10
In few words this means that in French GP the frames remained steadily over 59/60 even in 'heavy' spots with full cars , which is perfect gameplay.Very good performance have also Australia and Canada ( 55-58 fps ) . Malaysia is good but could be better ( 56 but dropped to 45 in crashes etc. )Monaco and Indianapolis have for sure performance issues.: / The frames were constantly low ( < 48 ) and in some situations dropped dramatically making them even unplayable .
I have also noticed that in general , tracks converted from gtl do have better performance compared to convertions from gp4 and f1challenge propably because gtl's graphics engine is more advanced and similar to rfactor's.
I think that performance should be taken into consideration for future track releases.I suggest using gtl convertions where available ( i know that most gp4 tracks are more detailed , but if i had to choose between details and performance i d choose the second ) or resizing some textures' resolutions.In the above tracks for example , I would replace Indianapolis with another version and resize some textures in Monaco since there isnt any better version out . : /
Anyway , Id like to see what do you think
