Maybe it's me but I just dont get this infatuation for GP'79. Twice I've installed it and tried to get into it with no luck. The cars have a tendency to "kind of wander round." They dont stop and really dont handle all that well, period...The tracks are even worse; MAYBE middle-of-the-road at best, and that's being kind. Other mods, FSONE for one, put this mod to shame IMHO....I hope the people that voted for '79 dont vote in our national elections here or we are in BIG trouble...

Well, F1 cars was way harder to handle back in 1979 than they are now and the mod really shows it. And for the tracks, the curbs wasn't meant to be driven on back then..
Myself, I think it is a great mod, although I don't play it much. But when I do I really enjoy it.
I can understand if some people have problems getting along with the cars, but that doesn't mean that the mod itself is not good...

Oh I love that era and as far as the tracks go, I wasnt complaining about the curbing but the texture and just general lack of detail..And yes I'm well aware that those cars were much harder to drive...If '79 were at the same level of FSONE, I'd be elated. I just dont think it's close to deserving of mod of the year...

lol, F1 1979 is way better then Fsone, and it shows since most poeple find it better than Fsone . No offence, but fsone just lacks some basic stuff that a really good mod should have, fsone is a good mod, but not more than that.

That MOD is one of the best ever made.
Probably one of the most WANTED when its demo was on rFC (like MMG 2007, exc.).
Its developers, the Grand Prix Classics team are really hard workers, who loved that era: that's fully viewable if you seee the care involved in the reconstruction of car models and liveries and even for the tracks...
That's one of the mods I like most, cause it made me discover what can the rFactor simulator give when the MOD is well-done !

Rubinio, a long time ago I quit puting my complete faith in what other people believe. Just like some of the set-ups people post, they "might" work for them but definitely dont work for me. Or a track that people rave about, so I download it and give it a shot and am seriously disappointed. Basically, I've found that what quite a few like doesnt mean I'm impressed also...
