Does anyone know who has the current F1 gaming license now that Sony is not producing games for consoles. I read on F1 Gamers that EA Sports are going to be releasing a game for the PC platform in the middle of this year.

Peter Moore, a big shot at EA actually just recently posted on his blog that Sony still has the license. "I am personally a huge fan, having grown up worshipping such great drivers as Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and James Hunt. The excitement that Lewis Hamilton has brought to the sport, and its vast global appeal, make it an appealing game license, but as of right now it is not available. Maybe in a few years the situation will change, but until then we fully respect the rights held by our partners at Sony." So no official F1 games for PC anytime soon. But rFactor does the trick... I just wish ISI had put some more work into the AI, I only have two online league races a month and public servers are just horrible for racing.

IMHO, EA blows! Their NASCAR mods are terrible and so bogus. Pathetic actually. You would think with the technology and money they have that they could do considerably better. There's an article with the same quote that dizglan posted in yesterday's VtirtualR site...It's a good site btw. Peeps should check it out...

Well, the fact is, simulations don't sell as well as arcade racers. That's why we haven't seen too many real simulations coming from big publishers, they tend to go with the CMR's and Toca's as they are a safe bet, and will sell no matter how bad they are. The simracer scene just isn't big enough.
